There are also trails that are suitable for hiking, biking, and running. The most popular one is the Nate Avery Trail. The trail is short and has plenty of mileage markers.

The loop also has an impressive view of the surrounding San Francisco peaks. This 2.2-mile trail is open 24 hours a day and features a number of amenities, including restrooms, picnic tables, and water fountains.

Nate Avery Trail

The trail is part of the Flagstaff Urban Trail System (FUTS) and is very popular. The Nate Avery Trail leads hikers through a wooded ravine and into a vast open space on top of McMillan Mesa.

The Sego Lily FUTS Trail in the McMillian Mesa Park is a well-marked, short paved path that leads to the Arizona Trail. It is also home to the Flagstaff urban trail system.

The Sego Lily FUTS Trail was made possible thanks to a multi-million dollar grant from the City of Flagstaff. The award was administered through the Flagstaff Urban Trail System (FUTS), a nonprofit organization that works to protect the natural beauty and human history of the city.

Arrowhead FUTS Trail

FUTS – Arrowhead Trail is a multi-use trail that has a moderate overall physical rating and a 23 foot blue climb. The trail connects places of employment, open space and schools. It is part of the Flagstaff Urban Trails System. This system is used by hikers, runners, and bicyclists. The trails connect the city to surrounding National Forests and other areas.

Oldham Trail #1

Taking the Oldham Trail from Buffalo Park in Flagstaff, Arizona, United States will take you on a 2.3 mile hike through the forest and over McMillan Mesa. Along the way you’ll enjoy stunning views of the mountains, valleys, and city below.

The Oldham Trail is not only the shortest of the three main trails, but it is also the most scenic. The trail offers great views of the Flagstaff mountain range and Oak Creek Canyon.

The trail is not particularly well-marked, so it’s difficult to tell where you are supposed to go. The best way to navigate is with a GPS. The trail will take you past three coed restrooms, a bike rack, and a picnic cabana.

Whether you live in the Valley or not, you will have at least some exposure to the McMillan Mesa and its environs. You can take in the scenery on foot, bike or in a hybrid car.
